DOSTOEVSKY FEODOR MIHAJLOVICH. THE DIFFICULT SITUATION. THE SECOND WIFE

In three months the loved one - brother Michael has died. The death of the brother has caused new cares. The dead has left huge debts which Feodor Mihajlovich has been compelled to incur and which hung over it almost till the end of a life.

Being in a heavy financial position, Dostoevsky writes chapters ' Crimes and punishments ', sending them directly to a journal set, and they are printed from number in number. Under the contract with publisher F.T.Stellovskim he has been obliged to write the new novel to the same time, on what it simply did not have physical strengths.

So in October, 1866 Feodor Mihajlovich has appeared in an emergency: it should present the new novel by November, 1st, otherwise the publisher had the right to reprint all its products without any compensation. Dostoevsky has taken advantage of council of friends and, to accelerate work, has invited the young stenographer whom within a month has dictated the novel ' the Player '. The stenographer called Anna Grigorevna Snitkina, in February, 1867 it became the second wife of the writer and its true assistant.

For the first time in a life to Dostoevsky really really has carried. This woman has gradually equipped to it a normal life, took on the shoulders all economic cares, and since then it has for ever thrown a roulette. After wedding Dostoevskys four years have spent abroad, mainly in Germany and Switzerland. It were years of constant need and wanderings. The birth of children - Sleepyheads and Ljuby was unique pleasure. However here again has not done without tragedy: Sonechka has died at three-monthly age.
