GALILEJ GALILEO. THE BASIC SCIENTIFIC WORK

In 1632 it with huge work managed to publish the basic work ' Dialogue about two pivotal systems of the world - Ptolemeevoj and Kopernikovoj '. It is a lot of years of Galilej has given to a writing of this book in which intended ' six hundred arguments to prove movement of the Earth '. The book is written in the form of dialogue between Kopernik's two supporters and Aristotle's one adherent and Ptolemeja. Each of interlocutors tries to understand the point of view of another, having admitted its justice.

Generalizing the opening, Galilej has convincingly shown unconditional correctness of the doctrine of Kopernik and a full inconsistency of system Ptolemeja. Adherents of the scientist exulted: ' In nature studying the new era has begun! The similar book in the world yet was not! ' the Letters full thanks and admiration, went from Padua and Venice, from Bologna and Genoa. Enemies, on the contrary, stayed in fury. Many long years Galilej of veins under the badge of that compulsion to pretence to which the church has answered Kopernik's its too passionate protection. But now, when in his hands there was a ready book, ' forced to overpersuade and the pigheads dressed by the power ', Galilej was not going to hide the true intentions. The edition of the main work he as though declared to all world that to it church threats are not terrible that it is full of determination up to the end to struggle for a celebration of a science against superstition and prejudices.

In reply to occurrence ' Dialogues ' the Roman church has brought to Galilee to inquisition court. The scientist has been accused of godlessness and separated from church. It is difficult to imagine something more shameful, than a court before which it was necessary to appear Galilee. Interrogations and threat of tortures have broken the 70-year-old sick scientist, and on June, 22nd, 1633 in sacred Maria-over-Minerva's church almost on the same place where Bruno has listened to the death sentence, Galilej has formally renounced the sights and has brought a public repentance.

There is a legend which says that after pronouncing of the text of renunciation of Galilej has risen and, having stamped a foot, has exclaimed: ' Nevertheless it spins! ' Yes, in this battle Galilee it was necessary to kneel, but won it was not. ' Dialogue ' has been printed, and it will be not not destroyed by any interdictions, and for it the scientist would agree to pay and more expensive price!
